Feb 21, 2014 Copy and paste short cuts (crtl-c and crtl+v) have stopped working in office 2013. If it I copy with the shortcut from Word 2013 and then try to paste in Excel 2013, it freezes for a moment and I have to click outside the program to regain the cursor.
2 days ago I noticed that my copy and paste functions stopped working! I am using win xp home sp3 and I do NOT use any remote file sharing or remote apps.
No new programs have been installed or removed in over a month. I have tried using the keyboard shortcuts crtl+c and crtl+v, right click copy and paste which doesn't work and neither does the copy or paste function under the edit menu. When I highlight text I can use copy ( enabled with black text) in the edit menu, right click and hit copy or do a crtl+c but when I go to paste the text into any text document regardless if using keyboard shortcut crtl+v, right click or the edit menu, the paste function is not enabled ( grayed out) These functions are not working in any document program on my PC nor do they work with paint shop pro or photo shop when I try to copy an image into my work image. If there any way to fix this? I need my copy and paste functions to work again!!! I have tried just about everything to get this to work. Restoring to the day before the issue started didn't help.
My fiance is a PC tech and even he couldn't get it to work even after checking to make sure the clipboard was not full ( it was empty), reformatting is not an option as I need my PC for my job and copy and paste is a big part of my job as a graphic designer. I couldn't get the scan to run. It would start then ask me to insert my OS disk into my CD Rom which I did but when I clicked on the retry button, it kept giving me a message stating the CD was the wrong CD.
I even restarted the scan with the OS disk already in the CD Rom drive with the same results. Could my OS disk version be the issue? It says version 2002, its the actual OS disk and not a re-installation disk or recovery disk, with the entire face looking like a hologram. When it would give me the 'wrong CD' message I would click cancel and it would scan a little more then the same message would pop up again. Clipboard isnt listed but clipbook (aka clipbook viewer) is, i tried to start it but received an error message 'could not start the clipbook service on local computer error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start' enabled Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM which allowed clipbook to then become enabled but after restarting all 3 services.
The copy/paste functions are still not working. I have also uninstalled clipbook viewer and re-installed it using my original Win XP home OS disk and this did not fix it I do not have remote file sharing enabled on my system.
Hi, First this question (if you are using Windows 8.1) would be best asked in the Windows 8.1 General Forum. In terms of the copy and paste not working on Windows 8.1, is this just in browser or online applications? Does copy and paste in notepad work?
If so, and its just web/web based applications then it may be down to your security package on the host itself. An easy way to test this is to temporarily disconnect the host from the network and disable the security package for a couple of mins to test. Hope this helps, M If you find my information useful, please rate it.:-).
Hello Martin I tried start, run, services.msc, desktop window manager session manager, restart service. No luck, my copy and paste still do not work.
Very disappointing. I am not very computer literate either so I worry about pressing the wrong button or changing something and the whole thing just imploding.
What else can I try please? I recently downloaded Microsoft word 2013 (I am a uni student and we are able to use it for free for the duration of our studies) and I think that may have something to do with the problem. What do you think? Thank you in advance.
You have to enable the developer tab most likely it's simple though: Go to File Options Customize Ribbon in the right hand box there should be an unchecked box named Developer check it on click OK. Now after the view tab there should be a Developer Tab, click it and the first box on the left is your Macro area, if you click the Macros button it will show any available macros. It's possible there aren't any and there is something else causing this. Check these out: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/238245-49-keyboard-shortcuts-working-word. Dear James, No, the text I am copying and pasting often is only a few words. I reinstalled the entire Office 2013. I reset all the copy and paste options to 'text only' in the options-advanced menu of Word.
It would copy and paste but with a significant delay. Finally with you tip above about macros, I went in and changed the ctrl+c and ctrl+v to alt+c and alt+v. WORKS PERFECTLY! Obviously, I have another program installed which uses the ctrl+ shortcuts. So, now I can work without problems but I would love to know how to find the other programs using those shortcut keys.
I have a lot installed: Adobe Creative Cloud, skype, remote desktop, filemaker, epson scan, postbox, pop-up dictionaries in English and Italian, etc., etc. Any thoughts about how to find the programs using those shortcut combos?
